Historically Defaulting Sets

One of the smartest features in Gym Vibes is Historically Defaulting Sets, which saves you time by predicting your workout parameters based on your past performance.

How It Works

When you add an exercise to your current workout that you have performed previously, Gym Vibes automatically looks up the last time you completed that exact exercise.

It then pre-fills the Weight and Reps fields for your new sets from your past sessions.

Updated in Gym Vibes 0.9.0:

  • Set by set: each set starts from the same set in your past sessions, so a pyramid of 60, 80 and 100 comes back as 60, 80 and 100 rather than three sets of 80.
  • Recent sessions count most: up to your last five sessions are blended, with the latest weighing the most and each one before it half as much.
  • Weights you can load: the result is rounded to a weight your equipment can actually make, such as an empty bar plus pairs of 5s, a real dumbbell size or a pin on the stack, rather than 223.3 lbs. See the Weight Calculator.

The Benefits

  • Progressive Overload Tracking: By showing you exactly what you did last time, you immediately know the numbers you need to beat today.
  • Zero-Friction Logging: If you are repeating a workout or maintaining weight, you don’t need to type anything. Just swipe to complete the sets.
  • Smart Adaptations: As you complete your first set and adjust the weight, subsequent empty sets will smartly inherit the new weight you just entered, assuming you are using straight sets.

Gym Vibes works in the background to ensure your notebook is always one step ahead of you.
